5 Home Staging Tips That Sell Faster

Are you looking to move this year?  Wondering how you can sell your home quickly?

Staging your home may be the answer. On average, staged homes sell about 73 percent faster!

Wondering how to get started? Read these home staging tips to help sell your home and move on to your next adventure.

1. Remove Clutter

Clutter takes up your space, and space helps a house sell. Make your home look bigger by only including the basics.

This doesn’t mean you have to get rid of these things forever, but you may want to get them out of the house. You could rent a storage unit if you need space.

First, go through your closet and pull out clothes that are not in season. If you are selling in the summer, pack up those winter coats.

Go through your decor and pack up most of it. You can keep a few pieces, but stick mostly to a few minimalistic pieces and pictures on the walls.

Buyers want to check your closets and other storage areas, so make sure these spaces are not filled.

Remove any stacks of papers, and keep your counter space as open as possible.

2. Let in Light

Dark rooms may seem sad. Try to let as much light shine in the house as you can. Before showings, open the blinds to help the room seem bigger.

Turn on all your lights as well before showings. This includes closet lights and lamps. Having all these lights on will also make your home feel more welcoming.

3.  Enhance the Front Entry Way

Your front door sets the tone for the inside of your home. Make sure your front door space is a grand entrance with just a simple cleanup. Clean all the dirt and cobwebs, and also polish or replace the handle or hinges.

If your front door is boring or faded, add a fresh coat of paint. Choose a color that matches your home, but don’t be afraid of a pop of color with a complementary color on the color wheel.

4. Rearrange the Furniture

You want your home to be as open as possible. As potential buyers walk through your home, they can better visualize their furniture. Not to mention, it will be easier to navigate through the house.

Remove any oversized pieces that are not needed, such as coffee tables, bookshelves, or cabinets. Remember, these items can go in your storage unit.

As you look for home staging ideas, remember that space is your friend, so make the room look as spacious as possible.

5. Depersonalize

As soon as you put your house on the market, you need to think that this house no longer belongs to you. Unless you want to sell your property as is, this means you need to take your personality out of the house.

Remove all family photos and anything else that is very taste-specific, like artwork. These items will capture the buyer’s attention, and they may not be able to picture themselves in your home.

You want your home to be a neutral canvas for its new owners. This also includes paint colors. Remove any bold colors and replace them with a more neutral grey, brown, or tan.
